Marlene with her "Best Friends"!
In March 2001she lost her
beloved "Rosie", the Samoyed, she was only 5 1/2 years old, but become
very ill with a fatal heart condition. This was a huge adjustment, since
"Rosie" was her inspiration for PetArtPix Creations. She put her
plans on hold, while recovering from the loss of her dear friend,
"Rosie". "Mookie" the cat, who was adopted May 1998, has
been her rock, but he also needed time to recover, since he grew up loving
"Rosie", thinking she was his Mother. He would kneed and suckle
her neck every morning upon waking, and she would lick his head, and put her paw
around his neck. Such love between two species, it was quite an experience
to witness! Her other " Best Friends" are now in kitty heaven,
"Riches" lived to be 20 years old, and "Leo" 18 years old.

Shelter Picture
Collage & First Days Happy In His New Home!
After a few months living without
a dog in the house, Marlene and "Mookie" the cat realized it was too quiet, and
they needed to make a change. So, they got lucky when someway, somehow,
angels from above allowed this cutie pie to make his way into their lives in May
2001.
He is an adoptee from the Animal Shelter in Carson, California. It was
destiny that "Jackson-Bunny" became part of the family. He posed as a
female, to everyone's astonishment, so Marlene would be alerted of his
existence! She decided to contact the Samoyed Rescue Assoc. and leave her
name, if a female puppy needed placement. They contacted her when they
found out about the "female" Samoyed mix at the shelter! Yes the shelter
listed "Jackson-Bunny" on their web site as a female! In fact they even
made the mistake, and let his roommate be a female for 6 days! So much for
animal control! Marlene met and fell in love with the "female"
Samoyed puppy, when suddenly to everyone's amazement "SHE turned out to be a
HE"! Even though Marlene preferred a female, the bonding had already taken
place, so of course she took him! Instead of naming her "Bunny-Rose" as
planned, she settled for "Jackson-Bunny", and took him home the next day!
He had these floppy ears, and the name "Bunny" just seemed to fit. The name
Jackson came to her in a flash, since her favorite artist is Jackson Pollock,
and now this beautiful creature with that name, can continue to be her daily
artistic inspiration. Now a month later the ears are not floppy any more,
so at least that is only his middle name! In fact the picture above is
when his ears still flopped, and also before he got his first bath, he turned
out to be much whiter than he appears! He and "Mookie" the cat are "Best
Buddies", and within one month, "Mookie" has begun his favorite morning ritual
of kneading and suckling on "Jackson-Bunny", and he licks him, and puts his paw
around "Mookie's" neck! Pure Love between species, once again, and the
house is definitely no longer too quiet!

Rose Besso
Marlene
Rose Besso is a self taught artist, and photographer, living in Southern
California. She has been passionate about art ever since she was a young girl.
A vivid memory of an outing with her dear Aunt always reminds her of her true
passion. At 10 years old, she stood motionless, in awe in front of a huge
Jackson Pollock canvas, at the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York.
Her Aunt tried to coax her to continue on throughout the museum to view some
"real art", and Marlene respectfully said, "No, this is real art, and I just
love it!" Marlene got serious about her art in 1981, and began painting
abstract canvases, greeting cards, t-shirts, fabrics, and anything she could
apply acrylic paint to. She exhibited at art shows, galleries, and sold
her cards and clothing items at stores in Southern California. In the
early 1990's she got focused into the world of photography, taking black & white
shots of her trips to Europe. She hand-tinted and framed these special colorized
black & white prints. Flowers, architecture, nature and her beloved pets,
became her subject matter, and she has a large collection of photographs, color,
black & white, and hand-tints now available as art gifts. In 1995 she started
creating computer digital art, and has an array of unique original designs that
she produces on greeting cards, t-shirts, calendars, etc. Her collection
of original digital art, and her photographs are offered at Artpix by
Besso, as Original Photo Art Gifts.
